Limit Break: Arc Impulse ~ ver. 4th Detonator: Strike with conviction to ensure a better future! Jude summons his ARM, Shapeshifter, and fires off a volley of devastating rounds. Contrary to the original canon, this ability works differently within Crystallis in the effect its power is entirely dependent on the bonds Jude has made over his time spent there. The stronger the bonds, the stronger the attack. Truly, this is the power of friendship.

Canon: Wild Arms 4
Canon Point: Before heading to Illsveil Prison.
History: one wiki link on Jude, and a Wikipedia and TV tropes link dealing with the overall plot.
Personality: To say Jude grew up a little bit sheltered is a bit of an understatement, when taking into consideration he literally grew up in one - a carefree, energetic child with a notorious habit of ditching sword practice. And notably as the only child among a small group of scientists, even commenting to Yulie that he'd never seen a "real girl" before. Up until that meeting, he never even knew of the devastated and war-torn Filgaia outside of Ciel Shelter and as such comes across as a bit naive and initially thinks of problems in simple black and white terms. If something happens that's "wrong", the obvious answer to Jude is to immediately put a stop to it. If two nations are caught in a devastating war, then which of the two are the "good guys"?

He soon grows to realize war isn't that simple, particularly when facing against Brionac and what remains of the Congressional Knights. Most are people who have faced the horrors of war and are unable to move on, and others genuinely believe they are doing what's best for Filgaia. Jude's own determination is called into question, when his very own weapon is a product of war. Even Jude himself has doubts over whether his actions are truly "right". Yet he does take his instructor's teachings to heart. Namely, that when in a situation where he doesn't know what to do, he should "do what feels right".

Of course, with Jude, even what's "right" to him may not always the right thing, and this is something that remains on his mind through most of the journey. This cumulates to a point that after witnessing the death of his mother, after going through many lengths to rescue her, the shock of the events is enough to render him silent. The sheer grief grips him to a point that he soon tries to strike an uninvolved soldier out of anger and at one point lashes out at his teammates when they express their concern over how different he's behaving.

Eventually, he does bounce back from that grief, and soon finds a new goal to strive towards. And regardless of what happens, he still holds a serious dislike to those who bring harm to others and perpetuate needless destruction. He comes to realize "right" and "wrong" aren't so easily defined; instead of discarding them outright, he holds onto them and eventually matures them into something more concrete: with the "right thing" being what is right according to your own set of beliefs, and "wrong" being to never betray them.

The sheer weight of the struggles thrust upon him may falter that drive in Jude at times, but he remains optimistic and upbeat nonetheless. In fact, his optimism and sheer single-minded determination is what drives the team for most of the story. For the first half, he refuses to let anything get in the way of his goals to protect Yulie and rescue his mother from captivity. What's that, Jim? Jude's mother is being carted off on a high-speed train and it's already taken off from the station? Naturally when you're Jude, the option is to go grab a perfectly ordinary bike and go speeding off after that train (in which, miraculously, he succeeds). When he's got a goal, good luck trying to stop him. Especially so when he takes up his ARM and fights to ensure a peaceful future for Filgaia.

Despite this, Jude is still a child and still acts like one. He's honest with his words, sometimes endearingly when complimenting Raquel's abilities. Also to a fault, and through this can come off as a bit of a brat too particularly shown when dealing with enemies, or even getting off-handed remarks from Arnaud or even Gawn.

And despite his naivety, he's far from stupid and dislikes it when others treat him like a child. Growing up among a team of scientists, he's actually pretty bright and rational in his viewpoint of issues (though not always). In terms of science and technical related issues, he's actually well-read in that department. So, it's a case of book smarts versus street smarts. Even with that sense of rationality, he's still a child and can let his gut emotion get the better of him as much as anyone else his age.

In the event he is treated like a kid, he can get pretty mouthy when that happens and Gawn even jokes about it, commenting he knows how to handle people like an adult. He's especially unamused in one scene when Gawn tries to casually wave off his smoking habit, saying the cigarette in his mouth is just a "noodle". Jude immediately sees through that lie and calls him out on it.

In the end, he's more than aware that he's still a child in age and occasionally in his way of thinking. But he doesn't allow that fact to prevent him from calling out the ways of the "adults" that stand before them in the belief they honestly believe they are doing what's best for Filgaia and its next generation. Or as Gawn puts it, it's likely because he's still a child that he's able to cut through the morally grey terms and call out things as he sees it.

Third-Person Sample: Hopefully this is enough. If not, I can provide a fresh sample.
Mognet Sample: To all Heroes of Light,

I get we’re supposed to save this world from a “Calamity” and that there’s the Empire and a really twisted lady trying to mess things up with more war and suffering. But here’s what I don’t get. See, I’m trying to hunt down some Seeker Bats for somebody’s request, but I’ve noticed something: sometimes I see hamsters running about too. I mean, I get why they’d be wary around giant monsters like those bats, but how come the people around town get incredibly nervous whenever I bring up the topic of hamsters?

I tried to ask them, but they just kept calling me reckless and telling me not to go out. Jeez. They got on my case for it, but really! What's so bad about hamsters? If there's someone here who keeps them as pets, they can't be all that bad. And just who do they think they are anyway, saying "children shouldn’t be out so late at night"?

I just don’t get it. And besides, I know it’s dangerous. Anyway, I heard news of a really, REALLY powerful monster roaming in the plains south of here. Apparently nobody's ever seen anything of its kind before. Maybe it’s not our problem, but I don’t think it’s a good idea to just let it roam around. I hear it’s really aggressive. So, it might harm other people if it gets too close to any of the roads towards the other cities.

What do you say, guys? Me, I think we should go take care of it. It might be dangerous, but I’m sure we can take it down if we all team up!
